๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘‘ The Virgin Conception of Christ

โ€œTherefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuelโ€ (Isaiah 7:14).

While Christendom speaks of the โ€œvirgin birth of Christ,โ€ according to todayโ€™s Scripture, a more accurate term would be the โ€œvirgin conception of Christ.โ€ There was nothing unusual about Christโ€™s birth; it was His conception that was unique because there was no human father!

Interestingly, todayโ€™s Scripture has been the point of controversy for over a century (to Satanโ€™s delight!). Some modern Bibles (RSV, NRSV, et al.) translate the Hebrew word here translated โ€œvirginโ€ as the vague โ€œyoung woman,โ€ thereby leaving room for the heretical idea that Joseph was Jesusโ€™ biological father (and denying Christโ€™s deity)! If someone ever tells you almah (the Hebrew word translated โ€œvirginโ€) can mean โ€œyoung womanโ€ or โ€œvirgin,โ€ they are right, but point out that the key to choosing the right translation is not up to a translator, but rather the Holy Ghost!

The author of Matthewโ€™s Gospel, filled with the Holy Ghost, knew which translationโ€”โ€œyoung womanโ€ or โ€œvirginโ€โ€”was what God had intended in Isaiah 7:14. If we want to know what God meant in Isaiah 7:14, why not ask God?

โ€œNow all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, โ€œBehold a virgin shall be with childโ€ฆโ€ (Matthew 1:22,23a). The Greek word translated โ€œvirgin,โ€ parthenos, can only mean โ€œvirgin,โ€ not โ€œyoung woman.โ€ Isaiah was prophesying a virgin, indicated by the words โ€œfirstborn sonโ€ (Matthew 1:25; Luke 2:7) and โ€œJoseph knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn sonโ€ (Matthew 1:25). Isaiah 7:14 meant โ€œvirgin,โ€ as indicated by Luke 1:34, for Mary โ€œknew not a man.โ€ Again, the Bible is clear that Joseph was not Jesusโ€™ biological father.

Matthew 1:23 indisputably proves that almah in Isaiah 7:14 did not simply mean a โ€œyoung woman,โ€ who may or may not be sexually pure, but โ€œa virgin,โ€ a woman who never had any sexual intercourse. The Holy Ghost, not Joseph, was the Father of Jesusโ€™ body (Matthew 1:18-20). source

I am blessed with two amazing kids and Iโ€™m a Christian Music fanatic! I also love to write and my websites and bible studies keep me busy as well.

At this point in my life, my focus is on fellowship and my existing relationships with God, my children and with family.

Verse for 11/21/2017

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. — Psalm 95:1-2
