Back in 2014, a popular film calledΒ Heaven Is For RealΒ told the story of a 3-year-old boy who had aΒ near-death experience.Β Afterwards he told his parents stories about his trip to Heaven.Β This story is often touted as βproofβ that Heaven is real.
But as the Lord said, βno man hath ascended up to heavenβ (JohnΒ 3:13). We know that later, when Paul was stoned to death (ActsΒ 14:19), he was βcaught up to the third heavenβ (II Cor. 12:2), butΒ this was so he could continue to βcome to visions and revelationsΒ of the Lordβ (II Cor. 12:1). Now that the Bible is complete, there is noΒ need of any further revelations from God, and so there is noΒ need for anyone to be caught up to heaven and return.
The only reliable information about heaven is found inΒ Godβs Word. After describing the vision of the kingdom ofΒ heaven that the Lord gave him, Peter added that the WordΒ of God was βmore sureβ than what he had seen with his ownΒ eyes (II Pet. 1:16-19).
Itβs tempting to think that this boyβs experience will persuadeΒ people to believe, but Abraham was right: βif they hear notΒ Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, thoughΒ one rose from the deadβ (Luke 16:31). source
