πŸ™πŸ½ Affirmation Of Unity After The US Election

On Election Day we made different choices for different reasons, hoping for different results.

Some of us chose to vote for Hillary Clinton.
Some of us chose to vote for Donald Trump.
Some of us chose to vote for another candidate.
Some of us chose not to vote.

Today, together, we affirm the sacrificial love of Jesus and our unity in Christ that supersedes our differing opinions.

We affirm that as followers of Jesus we are to be kind and loving to one another even when we disagree.

We affirm that real power in this worldβ€”the power to save, to transform, to changeβ€”ultimately rests not in political parties or Presidents or protests but in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

We affirm that freedomβ€”true freedomβ€”is given by God and is indeed not free. It comes with a cost, and it looks like a cross.

We confess the ways in which partisan politics have separated us from one another and from God.

We affirm that God’s grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

We affirm that we are to keep ourselves united in the Spirit, binding ourselves together with peace.

We affirm that we are the body of Christβ€”ONE. INDIVISIBLE. UNITED.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
