If we know in our minds that it is against our core beliefs to entertain thoughts of lust and sexual immorality … yet we continue to allow access … we can begin to develop a “covered” relationship with God.
We are instructed many, many times in the word that if we seek Him, He will be there and he will always provide a way to escape. If we discern weakness in ourselves and/or someone of the opposite sex and we continue to move forward with our thoughts and our actions, then we are effectively “stiff-arming” the Holy Spirit. We know it’s wrong yet we continue to pretend as if God isn’t watching.
The irony? When we rely on anything other than the Lord for strength, we continually give in to our lustful desires and come Sunday, we lift our hands to God and ask Him to use us.
