πŸ‘‘ We Must Not Hide The Dominion Of Christ From Our Children

Colossians tells us that we have been rescued from the domain of darkness and been transferred into the Kingdom of God’s Son. Yet, often we act as if no rescue has taken place at all. You and I frequently live as if we still remain in the realm of darkness. When this happens we do what the Psalmist tells us not to do; we hide this miraculous transfer of dominions from our children.

Colossians does not speak of another kingdom that exists between the realm of darkness and the realm of Christ. Yet we often live as if this mythical kingdom is real. In this pretend kingdom, the really important issues of life are seen as neutral. There are no pressing life and death decisions to be made regarding escape from the domain of darkness. This is the kingdom of the newscast, of education, of politics, of financial security or the kingdom of sport. The point is that our culture hides under the cover of neutrality. We dare not tell others what to believe. Perhaps, the term neutrality sounds a bit too theoretical. If this applies, you can substitute lukewarm for neutrality. The Bible tells us that Christ wants nothing to do with either term. As Elijah challenged Israel long ago, the Holy Spirit challenges you and me today:

Elijah went before the people and said, β€œHow long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

But the people said nothing. // I Kings 18:21

We become like the Israelites when we hide the rescue of our souls in our daily lives. We must choose each day whom we will serve. The people in your life should know if your follow God or something else. They should know you can’t follow two masters!
