🙏🏽 Prayer To Overcome Hate

Heavenly Father,

Today I lift up my heart to You, because it has become filled with hatred. Lord, I plead with You to intervene in my life and help me overcome this hatred, and anger, and resentment. Help me to reason … to discern … and to make the choice to allow You to transform these feelings of hatred to feelings and expressions of Your love. Love that I cannot give on my own. Love that can only be delivered to me, in me, and through me. Help me to believe and recall what Your word says about loving others … that if we cannot love those whom we have seen, then we cannot truly love God whom we have not seen (1 John 4:20).

Lord, show us that the only hate we should have is of sin and evil (Psalm 97:10) and those things that are contrary to Your Word and Your character. Show us that hatred is a poison that destroys us from within, producing a root of bitterness that darkens and corrupts our hearts and minds (Hebrews 12:15). Help me to walk away from this hatred, and anger, and resentment so that I can see the situation with clarity … through Your eyes and not my own.

I am struggling right now, Lord, and You are my Savior and my Support. Please awaken Your Holy Spirit within my heart so that I can move forward with sincerity and with perseverance. Lord, I want to move on from this heaviness in my heart and to move from hatred to forgiveness … from anger to peace. Fill me with the light and awareness of Your presence and help me to become the loving child that You created. I thank You, and praise You in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
